Pakistan and Afghanistan have experienced heightened tensions in recent days, raising regional concerns. Iran, sharing borders with both nations, has historically positioned itself as a mediator in South and Central Asian disputes, emphasizing dialogue and diplomacy as tools to prevent conflicts from spilling over and affecting broader regional stability.

On Sunday morning, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed concern over the recent developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect for each country’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty. The senior Iranian diplomat called for restraint and the immediate initiation of dialogue between the two sides to reduce tensions and resolve disputes through diplomacy.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson underscored that the Islamic Republic of Iran places fundamental importance on maintaining peace and stability in its surrounding region. He reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to offer any assistance necessary to help de-escalate tensions between the two neighboring Muslim countries.
